Dr. Scheller is Professor of Landscape Ecology and the Associate Dean for Research (ADR) in the College of Natural Resources (CNR) at North Carolina State University. He grew up in Minnesota and received his B.S. from the University of Minnesota and Masters and Doctoral degrees in Forest Ecology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research focuses on how landscapes have changed, how they will change, and why it matters. Anthropogenic change will transform many landscapes in the coming decades, in ways that exceed our imaginations. His research group uses advanced forecasting tools developed to forecast landscape change, enabling decision-makers to compare the long-term effects of alternate management strategies. He has published more than 100 manuscripts and book chapters, and one book. As ADR, Dr. Scheller supports the research missions of the college and university; his office manages over $75M in external grants and collaborates closely with faculty in CNR to deliver research excellence. He leads or serves on numerous college and campus committees, including the Research Leadership Academy, Research Operations Council, International Operations Council, and many others.
