Manzhu Yu, PhD is an Associate Professor of Geography at The Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Yu earned her Ph.D. in Earth Systems and Geoinformation Science from George Mason University in 2017 and her B.S. from Wuhan University in 2012. Her research focuses on wildfire risk, smoke exposure, and spatiotemporal environmental hazards, with an emphasis on integrating geospatial data science, remote sensing, and machine learning. She has led and co-led interdisciplinary projects on wildfire smoke impacts, fire progression, and compound air pollution extremes, including studies of long-range smoke transport and changing fire regimes in the eastern United States. Within the EFNet, Dr. Yu contributes expertise in spatial data integration, GeoAI modeling, and the linkage between wildfire processes and human exposure and infrastructure-relevant outcomes.
